For the Love of...

People often ask why I run myself the way I do. Why do I do so much? Why am I a science blogger? When did I become a musician? Why did I add radio? Do I like being cellular tech support?

 I wear myself out.

A lot.

But I do it for a lot of reasons. I do it for love:

for the love of butterflies...

and secret beaches...

for Floyd...

for the hidden beauty of the unfinished canvas...

for hurt and pain and becoming the monkey on his back...

for lights and productions and music...

for bacon and good times at Betsy's with new faces and old friends.

But mostly, I do it for me.
I do it because even though sometimes I feel my world falling apart, I know that there is always something else, someone else, someplace else, some new adventure just around the corner. I do it because I love. So much.

wow, I read this while watching 'Eat, Love, Pray' makes me think abt my sad life & what can I do to motivate myself. Between you & this movie maybe I will come up with an answer.

look, life sucks. A lot. But there is so much beauty in so many little things. Even beauty in the things that are falling apart, things that seem horrid, things that seem mundane. You just have to choose to accept the beauty. It's the only thing that keeps me going: love.

Your post moved me and made me think of the poet, John Keats. Here's the final lines of Ode On A Grecian Urn--

O Attic shape! fair attitude! with brede
Of marble men and maidens overwrought,
With forest branches and the trodden weed;
Thou, silent form! dost tease us out of thought
As doth eternity: Cold Pastoral! 45
When old age shall this generation waste,
Thou shalt remain, in midst of other woe
Than ours, a friend to man, to whom thou say'st,
'Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.'

I actually love that poem a lot and have since high school, Danny. And thank you, Laura.
